Reading Ability and Personality Development

Abstract

As is true of every important and growing school subject, the aims and purposes of reading are continually undergoing changes. At present many well-qualified teachers are interested in the possible relation of reading to the development of personality. This paper attempts to deal with some of the issues which arise in connection with this problem. The discussion may begin by giving attention to a few of the fundamental changes which have taken place in reading in the past.
