Working the Dialectic: Teaching and Learning Teacher Research in Social Studies

Abstract

This article presents two narratives of teaching and learning teacher research in social studies. Organized around the concept of working the dialectic, two social studies educators discuss their experiences as teachers and learners of teacher research. This article highlights the power of practitioner research to transform teaching and teacher education practices, and how it can be used as a tool forreflective practice and questioning the ways that we teach democratic citizenship.
