Abstract
Exposure to and appreciation of diversity is imperative for students' progression into college and careers; however, many children (and adults) misunderstand others' identities, which can be detrimental to individuals, communities, and society. Literature, partnered with social justice education and empathy, possesses the innate power to free students from these misunderstandings.
