Pages 17-20 | Published online: 30 Jan 2008

Abstract

∗ Although he did not know it, it was actually Dr. E. I. F. Williams who started me on the subject of my doctoral dissertation at Columbia over four years ago. The first time I ever heard of the Emergency Training Scheme was when I read an article in the Educational Forum in the spring of 1947, entitled “England's Emergency Colleges for Training Teachers.” The article was written by Mr. S. H. Wood, the father of the Emergency Training Scheme.
