Abstract
Published with the permission of the author and the consent of her parents, who all live in western Maine. The poem, which was written in August 1987 when the author was 10, derives its inspiration from the author's long walks and talks with her 77-year old neighbor, friend, and guide, Mr. Jack Williams. She is currently in the fifth grade at the New Sharon School in Vienna, Maine.
