Guidelines to Pre‐school Assessment

&
Pages 220-226 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Summary

Comparatively little attention has been given to the problem of how to record the progress of young children in the nursery school or class. It is here suggested that record‐keeping may provide several useful benefits to the nursery staff. Constraints upon assessment are discussed, and existing sources of help for the teacher briefly reviewed. A new guide to assessment and its evaluation in a study of 145 nursery children is described.
