Summary

The purpose of this research was to follow a cohort of 320 pupils through a large comprehensive school, observing their curricula and elucidating the factors affecting any differentiation of pupils by means of the subjects they studied and the depth to which they pursued them. The research is longitudinal, and, by using a questionnaire and school records, traces the routes the pupils followed as they came to various curricular crossroads.
