Segregated schools and examination results in Northern Ireland: some preliminary research

Pages 43-50 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Summary

Research on the segregated school system in Northern Ireland has neglected the examination profiles of the two systems. Legislation seeking equality of opportunity in employment between those of different religious affiliation has focused attention on whether the qualifications of leavers and balance of subjects in examination passes vary between the two school systems. Assessments of aggregate data suggest significant differences between the two systems which would repay further investigation.
