Pages 55-64 | Published online: 06 Jul 2006

Abstract

Using a comparative case‐study method, questionnaire and structured interviews, this paper investigates how British and American students view the study of literature teaching in their respective colleges. The focus is upon the expectations students have of their courses, but their views of literature as a subject of worthwhile study and their content preferences are presented and related to previous research.
