Democratic Learning in Teacher Education: a comparative study

&
Pages 3-8 | Published online: 06 Jul 2006

Abstract

The democratic learning approach in initial teacher education is one which has been introduced in a limited number of higher education institutions in the United Kingdom. The evidence to date appears to support the expansion of such an approach to other institutions and this paper contains details of one such attempt. The implication of the findings is that democratic learning is an approach which can be successfully incorporated into a variety of subject specialisms and associated initial teacher education courses.
