Information Input and Response Time

Pages 31-37 | Published online: 30 May 2007

Abstract

A study of the relationship between information input and response times used visually presented, discrete symbols from six alphabets of up to 1000 alternatives and a key-pres3ing response. It was found that RT varied directly with information content (log2 n) with no tendency to deviate from a straight line at high levels of n. Three further experiments are suggested.
