Abstract
The paper describes the development of a new type of teat of speech intelligibility, Answer in Sentence (AIS). This type of test appears to have certain advantages over existing tests. Performance on this test correlates highly with the multiple-choice test developed by Black and the Single-word test of Fry, while the test also has high reliability measured by a split-half correlation method. The test has been developed using a relatively small number of subjects, so it should be used with caution as a measure of individual differences.
