Pages 931-938 | Received 20 Jun 1977, Published online: 25 Apr 2007

Abstract

The basic nature of production systems is specific and determined by the fact that these systems involve people. However, traditional industrial engineering looks upon and designs production systems in a way which is comparable with a product designers outlook on and design of machines. The objectives of the present study are:

1.To analyse the current status of the theory and practice of industrial engineering

2.To present some viewpoints on the further development of industrial engineering
