Special issue: Women at Work

Women are not from Lilliput or Bedlam

Pages 469-473 | Published online: 31 May 2007

Abstract

When people address themselves to questions about ‘women at work’ they implicitly assume that sex differences are relevant and significant for work. In theory it seems reasonable to expect differences to be advantageous in some situations and disadvantageous in others. In practice women tend to be regarded as small simple-minded men. This paper explores some of the implications of real and theoretical sex differences and suggests how men and women may be employed to utilize their abilities fully.
