Abstract

A questionnaire survey of musculoskeletal complaints of visual artists was carried out in conjunction with a video analysis of a visual artist's standard workplace. The survey showed a high incidence of low back, neck, and shoulder complaints, while the video analysis demonstrated awkward posture and static work in the neck and back, and muscle fatigue in the shoulder. The findings show a correlation between repetitive motion in the shoulders and static work in the neck and low back, and the development of musculoskeletal complaints among visual artists.
