Abstract

The application of ergonomics in large-scale industrial investment projects is being discussed. An example is given of a smoothly running project. The point of view of the project manager is presented. In the description of the ergonomic contribution emphasis is placed upon the integrated treatment of technical and organizational aspects, both in the system to be designed and in the project. The relation between human-factors and project management is elaborated by contrasting this project with another project which, although approached with the same procedures by the same ergonomist, proceeded with difficulty. We conclude with some suggestions and general conclusions.
