Commentary A response to John Dowell and John Long, 'Conception of the cognitive engineering design problem'

Abstract

The concept of engineering design is outlined and a list of what the Dowell and Long paper offers is presented, and its shortcoming is outlined. Finally, opportunities for ergonomists to contribute to improving the engineering design are pinpointed.
