Dynamics of dissipation processes during nonelastic deformation of quasi-brittle materials

Pages 219-223 | Published online: 15 Mar 2011

Experimental research into dynamics of dissipation has been carried out on various quasi-brittle materials (ceramics, concrete, cement mortar) undergoing nonelastic deformation. The acoustic-emission method was employed for studying kinetics of accumulation of the latent internal energy in deformable volumes of solid body. The character of interrelation has been determined between the regularities of the plastic deformation, damage and fracture, on the one hand, and the basic components of the thermodynamic balance of the elastic energy dissipation under conditions of the uniaxial rigid stepwise loading. A novel experimental acoustic-emission thermodynamic parameter has been proposed which characterizes the relative contribution from the intensity of accumulation of the latent internal fracture energy to the total power of dissipation in the coarse of the nonelastic deformation of materials.
