Powders of Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-substituted Pb[(Zn1/3Ta2/3), (Mg1/3Nb2/3)]O3 system, with multiple-cation species in the octahedral lattice sites of a perovskite structure, were prepared via a B-site precursor route. Phase developments in the precursor and perovskite systems were monitored by X-ray diffractometry, as functions of heat-treatment stages and composition. Weak-field low-frequency dielectric responses of the system ceramics were investigated. The dielectric constant spectra were analyzed in terms of diffuseness characteristics.
