Abstract

Within the discrete phenomenological model of antiferroelectric liquid crystals we calculate the structure of the SmC_αphase in free standing film consisting of N smectic layers. A temperature evolution of the structure is determined for an example of the bulk SmA ⇄ SmC_α ⇄ SmC phase sequence.
