Abstract

The ceramic of PbTiO3and ultrafine PbTiO3 powders have been prepared by a solgel process. Characterization studies were performed to determine the effects of particle size. The dielectric properties of ceramic PbTiO3 of different particle size, and 0–3 composite materials of PbTiO3 were measured from 1MHz to 18GHz. All samples exhibited evidence of relaxation phenomena in their dielectric spectra. The relaxation frequencies increased with decreasing particle size. This work shows the potential to tune the microwave properties of ferroelectrics through control of particle size and microstructure.
