Anisotropy of Elastic Properties and a Glassy State of the KLHS Crystals in Temperature Range 12 K–300 K

Pages 147-151 | Received 22 Nov 2005, Accepted 15 Jan 2006, Published online: 09 Mar 2011

This paper reports the first evidence of piezoelectric properties of K 4 LiH 3 (SO 4 ) 4 KLHS crystal in the temperature range 12 K–300 K. Moreover, the anomaly in the elastic properties of this crystal observed at about 50 K by the composite oscillator bar method has been related to a proton glassy state. The elastic properties of the crystal determined by piezoelectric measurements revealed an anisotropy and dispersion in the (110) plane.
