Abstract
The cause for the deterioration of the alignment and the electro-optical property in the SSFLC panels fabricated with the adhesive patterned spacer technology is investigated, and several results indicating the link between the deterioration and the insufficient baking temperature during the fabrication process are obtained. SSFLC panels with improved elector-optical property are fabricated using plastic film substrates with high heat resistance. Multiplex driving of a passive matrix type SSFLC panel with film substrates is achieved, and a memorable and flexible dot matrix type display using ferroelectric liquid crystals is realized.
