Abstract

This paper suggests an alternative approach to the fabrication of pyroelectric thin films. Polar nanocomposite pyroelectric thin films are fabricated by controlled growth of TriGlycine Sulfate (TGS) nano crystals inside an array of aluminium oxide cylindrical nanopores. The polar axis of the TGS crystals [010] is aligned in vertical to the film plane. The dynamic method is employed for the measurement of the pyroelectric coefficient at different temperatures. Pyroelectric coefficient of the nanocomposite films having an average pore diameter of 43 ± 8 nm is determined between 25°C and 65°C. Pyroelectric to paraelectric transition is observed around 49°C.
