Effect of the Depolarizing Field in a Model Relaxor

Abstract

The polarization in a model for a relaxor placed between two metallic electrodes is studied by Monte Carlo numerical simulations. We consider different thicknesses and different values of the compositional charge disorder density. The depolarization field is found to be attenuated for large values of the number density of charge carriers and, in such a case, a homogeneous ferroelectric ground state is obtained.
