Abstract

Electron energy loss spectroscopy experiments were numerically simulated to study the ferroic properties of bidimensional distributions of semiconductor interactive quantum dots. Ferroelectric properties of inhomogeneous arrays of various confinement potential of the quantum dot: spherical, conical and cylindrical, were theoretically analyzed by calculating its corresponding dielectric response function and the energy loss function of a beam traveling parallel to the distribution of quantum dots. The interactions were introduced by means of the Weiss mean-field and the Bragg-Williams approximations. Our results indicate that the paraelectric-ferroelectric transformation could be detected and characterized by these scattering experiments.
