ABSTRACT

The Aurivillius phase SrBi4Ti4O15 (SBT) powders were synthesized by a hydrothermal reaction with 20% acetic acid solution as solvent at 200°C for 24 h, then the piezoelectric ceramic was prepared using the above powders. The results showed that well-crystallized SBT was identified at a hydrothermal temperature 200°C for 24 h. Plate-like morphology of the grains which is characteristic for layer-structure Aurivillius compounds was clearly observed. The sintered-SBT ceramics exhibited a high temperature of maximum dielectric permittivity (Tc = 530°C) with large piezoelectric constant (d33 = 19pC/N) and remanent polarization (2Pr = 13.6 μC·cm−2).
