ABSTRACT
Effect of substitution of Sm3+ on various properties of barium titanate has been studied. Barium titanate (BT) and its Sm3+ substituted derivative has been synthesized using solid state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis clearly indicated decrease in lattice constant of BT on Sm3+ substitution. Grain size increases significantly with the substitution of Sm3+. Sm3+ substituted BT sample possesses higher dielectric constant and better piezoelectric properties.
