ABSTRACT

Due to its high reliability, less maintenance and excellent insulation properties, Gas insulated metal-enclosed switchgear (GIS) is widely used in recent years. The operation reliability plays an important role in the safety and stability of using GIS. Therefore, to improve the gas tightness of sealing ring in GIS is necessary. In order to process high processability and air tightness, SD1517 was chosen as additive. With the purpose of testing the aging condition and show the permanent deformation of sealing O-rings, an aging experiment method is taken out. At same time, experimental results of different temperatures are summarized, and the lifetime of the sealing O-rings under different temperatures are processed. According to the experimental research, some conclusions will be processed such as: the working aging of EPDM/SD1517-6 phr sealing O-rings is 46.4 years while the working temperature is 30°C. The addition of Air tightness enhancer, SD1517, showed great performance.
