ABSTRACT

Based on bad machinability of Ti6Al4V alloy, easily causing serious tool wear and low machined surface integrity, the turning experiments of Ti6Al4V alloy were carried out. There is an comparison between two ultrafine grain coated carbide tools, CNMG120408 and VBET110302, by the observation and analysis of cutting forces, chip morphologies, and tool wear and breakage. The results showed that CNMG120408 is more suitable than VBET110302 for turning Ti6Al4V alloy. This results can devoted to selecting cutting tools for cutting Ti6Al4V alloy high efficiently.
