ABSTRACT
A piezoelectric vibrator based on a 1-3-2 piezoelectric composite with a matching layer was presented to expand the bandwidth of transducers. The vibration characteristics of the proposed vibrator were simulated through finite element analysis (FEA) and experimentally investigated. The piezoelectric vibrator was modeled and simulated through FEA to determine its structural parameters. The vibrator and the transducer were designed by using an optimized matching layer structure, and the influences of acoustic impedance and thickness on the bandwidth of the transducer were examined. Experimental results revealed that the bandwidth of the transducer reaches 56.5 kHz when the resonance frequency is set to 114 kHz.
