Relative height measurement based on collaborative information fusion of acceleration and barometric pressure

ABSTRACT

In view of the present defects of relative height measurement method, such as not easy to carry, high cost, large error and easily affected by obstacles, a relative height measurement method of relative operators based on the collaborative information fusion of accelerometer and barometer is proposed. The accelerometer and barometer installed on the workers head horizontally, with the judge of the changes amplitude value changes of three axis acceleration vector obtained by accelerometer, if the change is greater than the set threshold, judge the relative height of the operator is changed, and the altitude collected by barometer is effective, otherwise is invalid. Select the safe height of outdoor electric tower as the experimental platform, the height of 621 cm the measured by laser sensor as the reference height, the result based on the collaborative information fusion of accelerometer and barometer is 595.8 cm, and compared with the laser measuring height, the error is 4.058%, it can reach the high precision demands of many complex outdoor environment.
