Abstract

The present work demonstrates an effective and eco-friendly procedure for seed-assisted synthesis of monolithic mordenite via the conversion of silica fume and metakaolin based geopolymer into nanostructurally monolithic mordenite by the hydrothermal treatment at 180 °C for 24 h. The XRD and FESEM results confirm that the nanostructurally monolithic mordenite synthesized has high crystallinity and possesses mainly prismatic and laminated morphologies with average size of 2 μm. The N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms results reveal that the nanostructurally monolithic mordenite has the BET surface area of 30.16 m2/g.
