Abstract
The influence of sintering temperature on the optical properties of (K0.8Ba0.2)(Nb0.9Ni0.1)O3-δ (KBNNO) and Pb(Ti0.9Ni0.1)O3-δ (PTNi) ceramics was investigated. It was found that by increasing the sintering temperature the KBNNO samples change their color from yellow to dark-green, while PTNi slightly change the color from pale-green to green. At room temperature such modifications in the electronic structure were associated to the influence of the ferroelectric polarization, dipolar defects and oxygen vacancies on the crystalline field. Above Curie temperature, it is believed that the contribution of dipolar defects and oxygen vacancies are still present and intense enough to modify the crystalline field.
