Abstract

Scanning electron microscopic observation have been made on the amorphous samples of PbTiO3 (not containing glass formers) prepared by the rapid quenching technique. As has been reported1,2) thus prepared samples crystallize at about 550°C(crystallization temperature Tcrys). It has been found3) that the grain size in the samples annealed somewhat higher temperature than Tcrys is less than 50 nm and that it shows pronounced changes from 50 nm to 1000 nm with an increase of the annealing temperature. These results are discussed with reference to the changes in the physical properties in the crystallization process and are compared with the case containing glass formers such as SiO2 and B2O3 4.)
