E.S.R. of Gd³⁺ centres to investigate the structural phase transition of RbCdF₃ an TlCdF₃

Abstract

The interest of AMF₃ lattices for structural phase change studies, has been recently enhanced by the discovery, through E.S.R. on Gd³⁺ probes, of a tricritical point in RbCaF₃ submitted to an uniaxial stress ^(1,2). From the measurment of the critical exponent β, the tricritical point could be a Lifshitz one.
