Abstract

The peculiar properties of piezo and pyroelectric polymers which render these materials attractive for the development of several biomedical devices are discussed. Some of the possible applications of piezoelectric polymers to the field of biomedical sensors which have been developed in our laboratory are presented. Despite of the inherent limitation of ferroelectric materials in detecting very low frequency signals, piezo and pyroelectric polymers technology has probably reached maturity for quite an extensive application in the field of biomedical transducers.
