Abstract
Lithium niobate crystals are well-suited as shock-wave arrival detectors and prior work under well-controlled conditions indicates their responses are predictable on the basis of the Neilson-Benedick Three Zone Model. The present work investigates responses under less than ideal conditions and provides first high pressure data on Y-cut crystals.
