Abstract
The electronic polarizabilities of the constituent ions in SbSI are determined by using the dipole model among the ions. The calculated results are obtained as αSb = 2.53 × 10−24 cm3, αS = 2.67 × 10−24 cm3 and αI = 10.9 × 10−24 cm3, by using the experimental data about the optical indices na = 2.95, nb = 3.56 and nc = 4.52. Another model based upon the bond polarizabilities is also discussed.
