Abstract
The influence of the thermal gradient orientation on the domain pattern has been studied in tetragonal KNbO3.
Three particular directions have been noticed; the first one induces two compatible lamellar domain structures, the second one promotes cracks while a single domain crystal is obtained with the third one. The poling characterization has been performed by infrared measurements on a large sample in the tetragonal phase.
