Abstract

Pyroelectric devices are conventionally used for detecting infra-red radiation. However, other sources of energy can also be used to give a detectable change in temperature, such as the reaction of inflammable gases with oxygen. It is shown that good sensitivity is possible, with a detection of 300 ppm H2 in air being demonstrated.
