Abstract
A thermodynamic potential describing phase transition in vanadium dioxide is suggested within the framework of a phenomenological approach. Analytical relations are obtained which characterize peculiarities of behaviour of the system physical properties in the region of phase transition. Theoretical results are compared with the known experimental data and the complete agreement of both is demonstrated.
