Neutron structural study of the ferroelectric phase of K2ZnC14

Abstract

At room temperature K2ZnCl4, is in a ferroelectric ordered phase of orthorhombic symmetry. The refined cell parameters are a=26.740(1) A°, b= 12.399(1) A°, c=7.252(1) A°. Total of 5200 reflections were collected with w scans up to sin θ/λ= 1.07 A° on a single crystal mounted on the automatic four-circle P110 at ORPHEE reactor Saclay. The raw data were reduced to F2 values, corrected of the Lorentz factor and of absorption. The refinements in space group Pna21, is performed on 2600 reflections and the orientations of the ZnCl4, groups are given.
