Magnetic structures and phase transitions in the system TbGe1-XSiX by neutron diffraction

Abstract

Two kinds of structures occur in the pseudobinary system TbGe1-xSix as a function of composition: the CrB-type ranging from 0≤x≤0.95 and the FeB-type in the remaining narrow region 0.95≤x≤1. All compounds in this system order antiferromagnetically slightly below TN=60 K. A large number of commensurate and incommensurate magnetic phases associated with six different wave vectors k≤O as well as magnetic phase transitions have been found as a function of temperature and composition by neutron diffraction.
