Abstract
Effects of the electric field on the structure of the incommensurate phase of Rb2ZnCl4 were studied by using X-rays. We have already reported that A2BX4 crystals could be classified into two types, according to whether coexistence of the incommensurate and commensurate spectra takes place or not with the application of electric fields. In this work it was shown that Rb2ZnCl4 belongs to the type where the incommensurate and commensurate spectra do not coexist. In addition temperature dependences of intensities of the primary and some higher-order X-ray satellite reflections of Rb2ZnCl4 were measured. The electric field effect of these higher-order satellite reflections was observed.
