Abstract

Infrared reflectivity spectra of Ba(Mg1/3Ta2/3O3) ceramics for microwave resonators have been measured from 50 cm-1 to 4000 cm-1, and analyzed by using a classical harmonic oscillator model. It is found that the five infrared-active phonons having low resonance frequencies from 130 cm-1 to 280 cm-1 give large contribution to both dielectric constant and dielectric loss at microwave frequency f = 10 GHz.
