Ultrasonic study of nonlinear properties of crystals at phase transitions

, &
Pages 181-193 | Published online: 16 Mar 2011

The nonlinear acoustic properties of crystals in the region of phase transition have been analysed in the framework of the Landau theory. The phase transitions of the second order and the first order have been discussed for various types of coupling of the order parameter with the strain. The theoretical results have been compared with the available experimental data on acoustic second harmonic generation.
