Glass-like behaviour in PbZr1-xTixO3 with small Ti content

Investigations of the electric permittivity, elastic compliance, pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties as functions of time and temperature were performed for a PbZr0.985Ti0.015O3 single crystal and compared with Raman scattering data. The ε(T) function in the paraelectric and intermediate phase can be described by the stretched exponential functions typical for glass system. Poling of the sample in d.c. electric field induces stable ferroelectric properties in the intermediate phase. In this case the transition to the pure antiferroelectric phase takes place via a transient glass phase.
