dc Field-induced resistance degradation of perovskite-type titanates: A non-linear transport phenomenon

Abstract

Alkaline earth titanates and related perovskites which are commonly used as dielectrics in ceramics capacitors may exhibit a long-term degradation of the insulation resistance under simultaneous dc field and temperature stress. The phenomenon can be explained by a field-induced concentration polarization of oxygen vacancies which represents a non-linear transport process and leads to a significant increase of the electronic carrier concentrations.
