Abstract

The method of the characterization of ceramics used as transducers clamped in the Langevin sandwich construction is proposed. Dielectric and mechanical losses, electroacoustic efficiency and dynamic stress in transducers as a function of electric field for the most important ultrasonic power applications is found. The method is used to evaluate the suitability of two piezoelectric compositions (“hard” and “half-soft”) for those applications.
